Summer is the time of breezy hair, flow-y dresses, and glowing skin. We all want our skin to look radiant at this time and it’s a good thing we can all achieve this natural glow without the help of coverup or makeup. Here are 4 easy ways to get that glowy skin:
Drinking plenty of water all year long is important, but especially so in the summer months when we are sweating more and our fluids need to be replenished. It is recommended that we drink at least 2 liters (64 fl ounces) a day of water, in order to keep our skin looking supple and dewy. To make water drinking more interesting, we have written a blog about infused water recipes here. Those recipes feature delicious, thirst-quenching fruits such as strawberries, kiwis, lemons and much more.
2. EAT MORE HEALTHY FATS
In addition to drinking plenty of water, eating good healthy fats can also do wonders for your skin. Here are some foods that contain healthy fats (not an exhaustive list, of course):
- Avocados (rich is Vitamins E and C too)
- Walnuts (contains a good ratio between omega 3 and omega 6 fats)
- Sunflower seeds (rich in Vitamin E, selenium, and zinc)
3. USE A NATURAL FACE CLEANSER
At PAYARU, it goes without saying that we are obsessed with natural skin care. We are all about simple, minimal ingredients - ingredients that are gentle but very effective. There are plenty of face cleansers out there that claim to be natural but are in fact FULL of unnatural, artificial ingredients. We wanted a product that we didn’t feel guilty about using on our skin.
This is why we recommend ditching the artificial, harsh-chemically laden skin care products and switching to natural skin care now. We recommend our Original mung bean scrub (only contains 3 ingredients!) and our Cedarwood scrub (only contains 4 ingredients!). These scrubs are simple yet effective. And as an added bonus, they also happen to be vegan, cruelty-free, and entirely biodegradable. No pesky, plastic microbeads in these bad boys!
4. USE A NATURAL FACE MOISTURIZER
People often forget that their skin is actually an absorbent organ. This is why products like nicotine patches and other skin patches work - the product relies on the absorbent nature of skin to trans-dermally affect the body.
This is precisely why we prefer natural products. We want to know what exactly (if any) is seeping into our bodies. With our products at PAYARU for example, you know exactly what you are getting and putting on your face. All the ingredients are derived through natural processes!
So, after you have cleansed your face with a natural product, we recommend sticking with the routine and opting for a natural face moisturizer. We highly recommend oils (coconut, almond, jojoba) and homemade whipped butters to moisturize your delicate, absorbent skin. We have written a couple of different recipes for homemade whipped butters and face oils here.
