Plastic is the most common type of marine debris found in our oceans. At PAYARU, one of our main goals is to create products that do not contribute to the microplastic pollution of our oceans.

Microplastics are tiny plastic bits that break off of larger plastic waste. Microbeads are tiny pieces of plastic intentionally added to health and beauty products, such as soaps and scrubs, that easily pass through water filtration systems and end up in the ocean - where aquatic organisms mistake it for food.

At PAYARU, we seek to reduce this type of microbead waste that ends up in our oceans. This is why we created our mung bean facial scrubs. It turns out that ground mung beans make great exfoliators! (who knew? ...we knew!)

Mung beans are:

    • gentle ----> ideal for daily use
    • effective ---->   the small granules of mung bean can scruba-dub-dub!
    • biodegradable ---->  since they are a natural product, they readily biodegrade in water
